What It's Like to Work With Me
My style as a therapist is paced, collaborative, and straightforward. I provide a safe, confidential, and accepting space where there is room to think, ask questions, explore different perspectives, and talk openly about what is happening in your life.
I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what we're working on. At times our work may be practical and focused on what is happening now. At other times, we may spend more time understanding experiences, relationships, or patterns that have developed over time.
You can expect me to be engaged in the process with you while respecting that you are the person who ultimately decides what is meaningful and helpful in your life.
Outside of the Office
Long before becoming a therapist, I was involved in competitive gymnastics, first as an athlete and later as a coach and judge. I still enjoy staying active and being connected to the gymnastics community. I also spent many years skydiving, both recreationally and competitively. These experiences have given me an appreciation for the discipline, pressure, setbacks, risk, and personal growth that can come when you challenge yourself.
My path into counseling came later in life rather than being something I had planned from the beginning. After some of my own difficult experiences, I became increasingly interested in people, what shapes us, how we make sense of our experiences, and what helps us move through difficult periods in our lives. That eventually led me back to graduate school and into this work that I find deeply meaningful.
Outside of work, I value time with my family, friends, staying active, and maintaining a life that keeps me connected to the people I love.
